ICv2’s Insider Talks will return to NYCC ’19 as a one day conference on the Monday after the con. The ICv2 NYCC event will be held at Pace University and the lineup includes Scholastic Graphix publisher David Saylor, and perhaps most important, Comichub’s Atom! Freeman presenting some of their sell through data from comic shop sales.
That’s right, the explosive, top secret third rail of comics publishing data!
When I heard this, I was like
Comichub is a POS system/consumer app that nearly 100 comics shops are using to help their custoemrs pre order comics, and also provides sales information. I’ll have a more detailed write up on it in a few days.
ICv2’s Milton Griepp, who organizes this event, will also present his annual “White Paper” with statistics on the previous year’s comics and graphic novel sales and publishing trends.
You can read the PR for the event below – more speakers will be announced in the days to come.
The event takes place 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., October 7, and a networking session will follow. For some dedicated NYCC socializers, a 10 am Monday call will be a little tough but when I heard the words “Sell thru” I already set my alarm. The event is invitation only but is open to various professionals in the comics space and allied fields.
NYCC “Insider Sessions” or “White Papers” have been a semi regular feature of NYCC nearly since it launched and have provided extremely valuable information and networking time. If you’re a wonk like me, it’s unforgettable.
Information on how to attend is at the bottom of this post.
