If you’re a Justice Society of America fan, you’re going to want to pick up Justice League #30. Series writer Scott Snyder went to Twitter on Tuesday to let eager readers know that if they’re waiting for the classic team’s reappearance, this Wednesday’s issue is where it all begins.

In an interview with Newsarama, Snyder confirmed that we’d see the Justice Society beginning with issues #31 and #32 of Justice League, but it seems that #30 is going to provide some importance context as to why they’re back. Presumably, they’ll play a big role in the “Justice/Doom War” arc that’s starting up with Justice League #30. Considering that a large part of this run – and even DC’s “Year of the Villain” crossover – has set up this very conflict between Luthor’s Legion of Doom and the Justice League, it only seems fitting that our heroes will need some extra help.
Justice League #30 signals what appears to be only the beginning of the JSA’s revitalization. At this year’s SDCC, Snyder alluded to larger plans for the team; “Snyder’s goal with the JSA is to show them when they were forming, when they were uncertain and not the legendary heroes the rest of the DCU would later come to look up to. He wants to show them in a state where they weren’t sure yet if they were going to win.”
Justice League #30 is written by Snyder and James Tynion IV, with art by Jorge Jimenez, colors by Alejandro Sanchez and letters by Tom Napolitano. It’s on shelves tomorrow – so if it’s not already on your pull, you may want to call your LCS ahead of time to pick what may be a landmark issue. The Justice Society of America is back – and don’tcha forget it.
